Oh My God - Movie Review

The third movie "Oh My God!", yes, that is the name of the movie. It is a copy of the 2001 Australian movie "The Man Who Sued God". Paresh Rawal is a cut throat businessman who runs an "antique" shop. He has no qualms about duping the customers about the authenticity of the wares that he sells. He buys statuettes for Rs 250 and sells it for no less than Rs 10000.
One day his neighbouring shopkeeper asks him to look after his shop as he was going on a pilgrimage. Paresh Rawal ridicules him saying that his shop would fall down very soon and he should look to closing down his shop. The same day there is an earthquake. Paresh Rawal and his family are watching the news on TV and the newsreader informs that one shop in the market has fallen down after the quake. Rawal makes light of this incident and says that it should be the neighbouring shop. But immediately after that they are informed that it is Rawal's shop that has fallen. The TV reportage shows the utter damage that the shop has been through. Nothing is redeemable from it.
A confident Rawal says he is off to the insurance people to claim his insurance money. He is told by the agent to read the small print in the contract that he is signed which reads that the shop is not insured against "Acts of God" and refuse him payment.
He becomes wild with anger and files a petition against "God" in the court.
The rest of the movie is about how he argues his case and brings to fore the controversial Godmen who lure the naive devotees and how they have converted religion into business. In the end they try to make him a martyr and try to make him a "Demi-God" and have plans afoot to reap the benefits of his martyrdom.
A movie worth watching. Paresh Rawal excels as usual.
