For the new year weekend we had been to Guayaquil. Guayaquil is on the banks of the river Guayas and is the most important port of Ecuador.
We started on 30th night from Quito by bus. Slept through the night and reached Guayaquil at around 6:00 AM in the morning. We had to hunt around the place for some time before we located the first of the two hotels that we had identified, Hotel Indira International. But the rooms were not to the liking of many people.
So we did another hunt, but a short one this time, for the second hotel that we had identified. This was the Hotel Sander. The reception was swankier and some rooms better, but overall it looked the same to me as the earlier hotel.
But either out of desperation to hit the bed or genuinely people were OK with the hotel and we moved in to hit sack for a couple of hours. The driver needed a longer rest and promised to be back by 11 AM to take us around.
