August Thiyagi Appusamy by Bakkiyam Ramasamy (ஆகஸ்ட் தியாகி அப்புசாமி )

August Thiyagi Appusamy (Tamil)August Thiyagi Appusamy by Bakkiyam Ramasamy

A series of stories which highlights the comical situations into which Appuswamy "Thatha" keeps falling into thanks to the firm hand with which Seetha Patti rules over him with a tight hold over the purse.

The book starts off with a story where Appuswamy tries to earn a pension by trying to become a martyr. He tries to become one by picking a fight with an authorickshaw driver but ends up going to the policeman who owns the auto and gets dismissed offhand.

In another Appuswamy and his friends Rasagundu and Bhima Rao learn about free food being doled out at some place and they rush in there using Seetha Paati's car which she has left at home for a change. They realize that they have to listen to a boring religious exposition and have to signup for multiple such sessions before being fed any of the mouth watering food that is being prepared. They are not ready to make that sacrifice even to get the free food and they almost get thrashed before running for their lives.

Just in one it appears that Appuswamy has an upperhand over Seetha Paati as Paati is suffering from arthritis and Appuswamy helps her by taking care of her legs. Soon Seetha Paati twists the situation as usual to benefit her and Appuswamy is left in the same situation as before.

Gets a little tedious, but a decent read.
