If you want to read a real life thriller, this should be one of the book that you consider. K. Vijay Kumar who led the Special Task Force (STF), Tamil Nadu which finished Veerappan has written about his experiences with the STF and how Veerappan hoodwinked them time and again.
The author has been in the police force for a long period of time. During this time he served with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and various other roles both at the Center and at the State level. He was personally called upon by the CM of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalitha, to lead the Tamil Nadu STF to capture Veerappan.
A very good read.
