A typical Indian family situation somewhere in Gurgaon (now Gurugram). A mathematics teacher and a father wants his son to become an engineer. The son hates mathematics and wants to learn and do animation.
The conflict reaches a peak when the father forcefully drives the son to secure and admission in an engineering college. He is ready to give up a large chunk of his savings to ensure that his son does what he wants him to do.
The son in a fit of anger leaves the house to go to Mumbai to try his luck in Bollywood. Fate delays his flight as the Yellow line metro which will take him to the New Delhi station is nonfunctional due to some accident. As he waits in the resting room, a parallel poor man story plays out where a humble tea stall owner wins a lottery and he has to go to New Delhi to collect his winnings. Fate brings them together in the waiting room.
A third middle aged man enters the room and irritates and then engages the boy in non-stop talk about his life. His life starts off uncannily like the boys. He has run away from his home to free himself from this tyrant father who is a mathematics teacher wants him to become a mathematics teacher. He runs away from home to Chennai to try his luck in Kollywood. As the story enfolds the boy is enraptured by what happens and he ends up helping the man.
To know what happens next read the book.
A decent read.
