Gangoobai

A wonderfully sweet movie involving a lady, Gangoobai, who lives close to the nature in the hill station of Matheran. She sees a Gara sari worn by one of the guests to Matheran and she is in all awe of it. It becomes an obsession with her to buy one for herself and towards this she starts driving herself to work hard. She is so desperate that she is ready to gamble at the horse races hoping to make a quick money. Fortunately her neighbour prevents her from losing her entire savings. She is finally able to save money enough to buy one after four years of hardworks.

Off she goes to Mumbai in search of the designer shop that she knows of. She is first ignored but later when she shows that she has the money the manageress takes a liking and makes her to sit with the who is who of Mumbai. While one Parsi gentleman accepts her sitting next to him, a high society snob says that she would have the manageress removed for this insult. The Parsi gentlemen supports the manageress and she retains her job.

At the end of the day Gangoobai is told that she will have to wait for a few days before she can have the sari as they will have to custom make one for her. The designer starts making one for her. She stays put with one of the accounts personnel at the designer studio and she goes about bringing happiness in the lives of all the people with whom she comes in touch before going back to Matheran with his sari.
