Julian sends his nephew John to a series of countries under the pretext of collecting a set of talisman from his friends. The journey is an awakening for John who is going through troubled times in his personal and office life.
He first visits to Argentina to meet Julian who is learning to Tango. Julian tells him that he will send him his tickets and instructions as he keeps moving from one place to another.
The first place that John is sent to is to Turkey. Here he is given a talisman along with a letter which teaches him the "Power of Authenticity". The letter tells him to live a life true to himself and his wishes rather than just carry on.
From Turkey is sent to Paris where he is taught to "Embrace his Fears". Being claustrophobic, John hardly takes the elevator beyond the third or fourth floor. In Paris he is sent to the catacombs to meet Julian's friend. After forcing himself to go into the catacombs John finds that he is able to take the elevator to higher floors. He finds that he has overcome his claustrophobia.
The next stop is Osaka, Japan where he is taught to Live with Kindness. From their he goes across the globe to Oxkutzcab, Mexico. Here is taught the importance of Making Small daily progress.
By this time he realizes that he is hardly experiencing any jet lag despite his travels across so many time zones.
From Mexico he goes to Barcelona, Spain where he learns that "To lead your best life, do your best work". It is suggested that one needs to be passionate about whatever one does.
From Spain he flies to Sydney, Australia where he is told "Choose your Influences Well". Be with the people who energize you rather than ones who drain your energies.
At Shanghai, China he learns that Life's simplest pleasures are life's greatest joys. He learns that even if one is extremely rich and successful leading a normal life helps in keeping one happy and satisfied and it is not necessary to lead a lavish life style even if one can afford it.
In Phoenix, USA he learns that "The Purpose of Life is to Love". He is asked to follow his heart rather than his head.
Finally in Agra, India he meets Julian himself who is on his way to the Himalayas. He is taught to "Stand for Something Bigger than Yourself". He is told that he needs to make himself useful.
Another good read from the author.
