The book is the account by the author of how the author explored the virgin forests of South America and discovered the Machu Picchu.

The book starts with the history of how the book came into existence. It says that the author has modified his actual journey to make it more dramatic for the readers. While the actual discovery happened over a long period of time, the author presents it as if it happened in an instance and as if he understood the importance of his discovery in a jiffy.

Nevertheless it makes fascinating read for someone interested in the history of Incas.

A good read.
