My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The book covers a chunks of a large period of Brazil's history. It starts with the Portuguese landing in Brazil. It covers a few intervening decades in the 19th century and then the last few decades of the last century.
The book is does not follow a chronological order. It keeps going to all the three points in time in all the chapters. It is based on the author's interaction with the people on the ground and the stories that he has gathered from them and from the newspaper reports.
A good introduction to a brief history of Brazil for someone new to Brazil.
Death has been a way of life in Brazil, is what can be concluded after reading the book.
