A wanna be Da Vinci code. The book is based on the legend of Syamantaka Mani a jewel which was capable of giving the owner gold on a daily basis and would protect the owner from all natural disasters. Krishna was once suspected of having stolen this from Satrajit who was the owner then.
The book is based on the assumption that this Syamantaka is the Philosopher's Stone. A historian his PhD student set out to search for the stone. The historian has involved a set intellectuals from the different Yadav clan in his search. Soon one after the other is found killed in the same manner as Krishna, i.e. a wound on the left legs large toe.
The historian is suspected of killing them and the police is after them. The final denouement is at the Taj Mahal with only the historian left alone with the police officer who had been chasing him.
A good read.
