Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone GirlGone Girl by Gillian Flynn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

One more of the dark book of how the female exploits the male. The books is about Amazing Amy who has been the basis of a series of books which has been used to inculcate good habits in young children.

She marries a writer from Missouri and leads a carefree life in New York City. Both of them lose their jobs. His father is suffering from Alzheimer and his mother is suffering from cancer. Both of them have to be cared for by his sister back in Missouri. One fine day he asks her to move back to Missouri with him.

Her parents who had made a fortune through the Amazing Amy books are in dire straits and they borrow from her trust and leave her with almost nothing. Her husband borrows whatever is left and starts as a bar in their defunct home town.

On the day of their 5th anniversary she disappears. Initially the police consider it to be case of assault and/or kidnapping. There appears to be some kind of tussle that has happened at the house. an the police find traces of blood in the kitchen. Soon one one after another clues turn up all of which point to the husband as the guilty. His in-laws who initially support him stop supporting him when news breaks to reveal that Amy had been pregnant before she disappeared. The whole nation is hunting for her.

Read the book to know more. Don't wish to break the suspense. Not a bad book to read.
