Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin

Knots and Crosses (Inspector Rebus, #1)Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The book is about a Police Officer who starts getting letters with knots and crosses and cryptic messages like "There are clues everywhere". An alongside he is put on a team investigating the serial murder of young girls.
The police office is hiding and trying to forget his troublesome past in the army and his strained relationship with his brother and father.
To add to his complications he is living away from his wife and gets to see his young daughter only infrequently.
The serial murderer kidnaps the Police Officer's daughter and the final target is the Police Officer himself.
The flow of the book is very good. There is not much suspense, but the acrostics used by the killer is a very interesting concept.
No more details can be provided without giving away the details which one would enjoy only if one reads.
On the whole a very readable book.
