9 - History of a Failed Company - The new CEO

As the financial situation grew difficult, Mr. Doug Mellinger was sidelined and a new CEO was appointed.
This person did exactly like everbody else in the industry was doing then. Throw out the dross. But his definition of the dross was slightly skewed. His definition was all people who do not have a project on the particular day, he decided for the ouster, are the dross and need to be eliminated. As a result people who just got out of project after three years of productive work were thrown to the streets, while people who managed to get into projects just a few days, or weeks ago, were retained.
No attempt was made to see if people who had been productive for most part of their stay in the company could be deployed usefully in any other project.
It was a case of the "Baby being thrown out with the bath water".
