6 - History of a Failed Company - SEI CMM Certification

The company also went in for a certification at SEI-CMM level 3. Unfortunately the company had a few SEI CMM certified experts. As a result the audit was carried out by one external certified practitioner and the rest from within the company.
Here is how it was done. A week long session was held for the people who were to participate in the audit and they were briefed as to how they should answer to the questions that would be asked during the audit.
After this the audit was conducted in which the people who had been briefed were 'audited'. The external guy must have ben dumb or was probably 'treated' in a different way.
After the audit a big auditorium was hired and the company's personnel were transported there. The head of the SEI-CMM made a suspenseful presentation, giving details of how the SEI-CMM journey unfolded in the company and finally ended with the "News" that the company had been certified as SEI-CMM Level 3.
The crowd went "Hallelujah" we have achieved it. Boy what a sham(e) it was.
